Zhejiang University and Shenyang University of Chemical Technology Sign Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement

On March 24, the signing ceremony for the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between Zhejiang University (ZJU) and Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (SYUCT) was held at Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University.

Present at the ceremony were Academician Ma Yanming, President of Zhejiang University; Wang Lizhong, Executive Vice President of Zhejiang University; Fu Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC ZJU Committee; Wu Chungen, Vice Governor of Liaoning Province; Wang Qingdong, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Director of the Department of Education of Liaoning Province, and Deputy Secretary of the Education Work Committee of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee responsible for daily work; Zhou Zhiqiang, Secretary of the CPC SYUCT Committee; Qin Gaowu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SYUCT Committee and Vice President of SYUCT; Wang Guogang, Wang Shurong and Feng Zhilei, Vice Presidents of SYUCT; and heads of relevant functional departments and schools of the two universities.

Wang Lizhong presided over the ceremony. He extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the People’s Government of Liaoning Province, the Department of Education of Liaoning Province and SYUCT, and delivered a detailed introduction to Zhejiang University’s educational legacy, disciplinary strengths and development strategies.

Zhou Zhiqiang expressed sincere gratitude to Zhejiang University for its thoughtful preparation and to the People’s Government of Liaoning Province and the Department of Education of Liaoning Province for their strong support. He noted that the comprehensive cooperation between the two universities fully demonstrates ZJU’s commitment to supporting the revitalization of Northeast China and driving the development of local universities. Taking this signing as a new starting point, SYUCT will take the initiative to advance in-depth integration and collaboration, boost regional economic and social development through scientific and technological innovation and technology transfer, and contribute to the full revitalization of Liaoning and the building of a strong country in education.

Fu Qiang and Qin Gaowu signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on behalf of the two sides. The signing was witnessed by Ma Yanming, Wu Chungen, Wang Lizhong and Wang Qingdong.

On behalf of the People’s Government of Liaoning Province, Wu Chungen congratulated the two universities on signing the agreement and thanked Zhejiang University for its long-term care and support for the revitalization and development of Liaoning. He pointed out that the signing is not only a major event for deepening cooperation between the two universities, but also an important measure for Liaoning Province and Zhejiang University to implement the provincial-university strategic cooperation framework and jointly promote the coordinated development of education, science and technology, and talent. He expressed hope that the two universities will jointly build a new model of win-win cooperation between a world-class university and a local university, write a new chapter of provincial-university cooperation between Liaoning Province and Zhejiang University, and jointly make greater contributions to serving major national strategies.

Ma Yanming welcomed the delegation from Liaoning Province and SYUCT. He stated that Zhejiang University maintains sound cooperative relations with Liaoning Province, and SYUCT boasts distinctive strengths in energy and chemical engineering, laying a solid foundation for exchanges and cooperation between the two universities. Based on the new starting point, he expressed hope that the two sides will focus on the national “dual carbon” strategy and the transformation and upgrading of Liaoning’s chemical industry, strengthen joint discipline development, enhance joint talent cultivation, deepen collaborative research, promote the application and commercialization of more scientific and technological achievements in Liaoning, and jointly contribute to the full revitalization of Northeast China and the pursuit of Chinese-style modernization.

After the signing ceremony, accompanied by leaders of Zhejiang University, Wu Chungen and his entourage visited the ZJU Science and Technology Innovation Hall and the State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Components and Mechatronic Systems, where they learned about ZJU’s advanced experience and remarkable achievements in scientific and technological innovation, platform development and technology transfer. Heads of relevant functional departments and schools of SYUCT held targeted exchanges and coordination with their counterparts at Zhejiang University on specific matters including talent exchange, joint discipline development, joint postgraduate training and scientific research cooperation, and reached consensus on a host of concrete measures for implementing the agreement.
