It is situated in the Shenyang Economic & Technological Development Zone, where modern industries gather. The campus is lush with trees and boasts a beautiful environment, integrating academia, gardening, and art. It is one of the important bases for cultivating high-quality applied talents and conducting scientific and technological innovation, with a focus on serving the local area and catering to industry needs. Shenyang University of Chemical Technology was founded on July 15, 1952 under the name “Shenyang Chemical Industry Technical School” and was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry of the Northeast People’s Government. The school was located at No. 3 Shangwu Street, Tiexi District, Shenyang city (now No. 11 Aigong South Street). In those days, it had three professional departments: Chemical Engineering, Machinery, and Electrical Engineering. In October 1953, the school became affiliated with the Central Ministry of Heavy Industry and was renamed “Shenyang Chemical Industry School of Ministry of Heavy Industry”. From 1953 to 1958, various departments and programs from other institutions successively merged into our school, including the Chemical Engineering Department of Shenyang Machinery Industry School, the Dyeing and Analysis Department of Jilin Industrial School, the Electrical Engineering Department of Dalian Industrial School, and Shenyang Chemical Industry School. In 1956, the country established the Ministry of Chemical Industry, and the school’s affiliation shifted from the Heavy Industry Department to the Chemical Industry Department. On August 10, 1958, the school was upgraded to a university and officially established “Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology”, affiliated with the Liaoning Provincial People’s Government. Guo Moruo, the former President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, inscribed the name of the school. In June 1960, approved by the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, the college was renamed “University of Science and Technology of Liaoning,” with the Organic Synthesis Program of Fushun Institute of Technology merging into our school. At that time, the school’s academic leadership was under the Liaoning Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In April 1962, the school returned to the jurisdiction of the Chemical Industry Department, reverting its name to “Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology”. Dalian Polytechnic College was merged into our school. During the Cultural Revolution from December 1970 to June 1978, the school was forced to relocate to Fushun for operations. During this time. The original Fushun Institute of Technology and Fushun Petroleum School were merged into our school, and our school was renamed “Fushun Institute of Chemical Technology”. In July 1978, our school relocated back to Shenyang and resumed its original name, “Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology”. The school was once again under the jurisdiction of the Chemical Industry Department. In August 1998, the country adjusted the management system of higher education institutions, and our school’s management system changed to “co-construction by the central and local governments, with local management as the primary responsibility.” In March 2010, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed” Shenyang University of Chemical Technology”. The school is one of the first institutions in China authorized to grant bachelor’s degrees. In 1986, it began cooperating with other universities to cultivate master’s degree candidates. In 1992, it started cooperating with some domestic and foreign universities to cultivate doctoral candidates. In 1993, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a unit authorized to grant master’s degrees. Adult education in school originated from the Amateur School for employees of the Chemical Industry Management Bureau of the Ministry of Industry of the Northeast People’s Government established in August 1953. In October 1956, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Shenyang Amateur Chemical College. In 1960, it was renamed as the Liaoning University of Science and Technology Affiliated Amateur University. In 1961, due to the national economic difficulties, the school’s amateur university ceased operations. In 1983, approved by the Chemical Industry Department, the school resumed running night university programs. In 1993, correspondence education began recruiting students. In 1953, the school began to enroll students through correspondence education.
