Pharmacy (Master)

Pharmacy is a comprehensive discipline based on chemistry, biology and other related disciplines, covering the whole process of drug development, production, use and management. It plays an important role in protecting people’s health, and provides theoretical guidance and technical support for discovering new drugs and ensuring drug safety, effectiveness, stability and quality control. In 2006, our school was authorized to grant second-level master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (100701), in 2010, it was authorized to grant first-level master’s degree in Pharmacy (1007), and in 2018, it passed the qualification evaluation of pharmacy degree authorization jointly organized by the Academic Degrees Committee of The State Council and the Ministry of Education. The undergraduate major of Pharmaceutical Engineering supporting this discipline passed the national engineering education professional certification in 2018, and was approved as the national first-class undergraduate construction major in 2021.

There are 30 teachers and researchers in this discipline. Among them: 6 professors, 10 associate professors, 14 lecturers. There are 26 people with doctoral degrees and 30 master’s supervisors. Among them, there are 2 talents of Xingliao Talent Plan, 5 candidates of Liaoning Province’s Millions of Talents Project, 1 scholar of Liaoning Province’s universities, 1 excellent expert of Liaoning Province, 1 excellent talent of Liaoning Province’s universities, 1 outstanding scientific and technological worker of Liaoning Province, 1 famous undergraduate teaching teacher of Liaoning Province, and 1 excellent young backbone teacher of Liaoning Province. Nine teachers have been sent to high-level universities abroad for visits and exchanges, and to carry out international academic exchanges and cooperation with scientific research institutions such as the Department of Chemistry at the Technical University of Denmark and the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The discipline direction is based on the characteristics of chemical innovation process research and development and the characteristics of traditional fine chemical disciplines, facing the frontier of life science, strengthening the cross-penetration of disciplines, especially in the discovery and optimization of leading compounds of innovative drugs for major diseases, key technologies of drug production and industrialization, and the application of new biological technologies.

The discipline has five teaching and research platforms, namely: national and local joint laboratory, Liaoning Pharmaceutical and Chemical Process Technology Innovation Center, Liaoning Pharmaceutical and Biological Virtual Simulation Center, Liaoning Key Laboratory of Green Functional Molecule Design and Development, Shenyang Key Laboratory of Targeted Pesticides, etc. It has undertaken 13 national scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Key Research and Development Plan, and more than 150 projects carried out by the Ministry of Education, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Education and other departments as well as with enterprises. In recent years, it has published more than 570 academic papers in various journals, with many ESI highly cited and top 3% papers; More than 160 papers are included in SCI. More than 120 invention patents have been applied, 73 invention patents have been authorized, and more than 20 patents have been successfully converted or applied.

The major aims to train innovative senior talents in the fields of new drug design, drug production and drug development for pharmaceutical research units and pharmaceutical commercial enterprises such as chemical pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical preparations. Postgraduates with master’s degree can engage in the research and development of new drugs in pharmaceutical enterprises and research institutes; Engaged in drug quality inspection in pharmaceutical enterprises and drug regulatory departments; Engaged in clinical pharmacy and drug preparation in hospital; Engaged in drug circulation and domestic and foreign trade in pharmaceutical trading companies or pharmaceutical enterprises.
