Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (SYUCT) has obtained official approval for two new undergraduate majors: Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering and Cyberspace Security. The addition of these majors marks an important initiative by the university to proactively align with national strategic development needs, continuously optimize its undergraduate program structure, and advance high-quality, connotative development of academic programs. It further improves the system for cultivating interdisciplinary professionals and ensures that program development better meets the needs of regional economic and social progress. The Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering major is an emerging interdisciplinary engineering major established to support national strategies for building China into a manufacturing powerhouse, developing the digital economy, and advancing new industrialization. It closely aligns with the revitalization of Northeast China’s old industrial base, the upgrading of Liaoning’s equipment manufacturing sector, and the intelligent transformation of the chemical industry. Guided by the philosophy of “solid fundamentals, interdisciplinary integration, strong practical capabilities, and excellence in intelligent manufacturing”, the major integrates knowledge from mechanical engineering, automatic control, chemical equipment, industrial software, digital twin technology, and artificial intelligence. Leveraging the university’s core strengths in chemical engineering and Liaoning’s equipment manufacturing resources, it aims to cultivate high-caliber, interdisciplinary, application-oriented engineering talents with a sound theoretical foundation, strong practical capabilities in intelligent manufacturing, and innovation and entrepreneurship awareness. Graduates will be qualified for product design and development, process optimization and upgrading, system integration and commissioning, production operation management, and technical services in advanced equipment manufacturing, smart factories, industrial robotics applications, intelligent production line integration, and related fields. The Cyberspace Security major responds to core national cybersecurity strategy needs, provides talent support for building a secure digital society, and aligns with the high-quality development layout of regional digital industries. Positioned to serve cybersecurity scenarios across all sectors, the major precisely meets the talent demands of government organs, critical information infrastructure operators, internet and information technology enterprises, industrial control and internet-of-things industries, and other entities. It focuses on core technical areas including cybersecurity protection, full lifecycle data security governance, persistent threat monitoring and traceability analysis, and in-depth hardening of business systems. The major adopts an integrated training framework featuring general literacy as the foundation, professional theory as the core, security skills as the capability driver, and hands-on engineering practice as the closing link. It cultivates high-caliber, interdisciplinary, frontline cybersecurity professionals with solid technical foundations, strong professional ethics, and adaptability to diverse scenarios, who are well-qualified for core positions such as security compliance administrators, cybersecurity operation and maintenance engineers, vulnerability assessment specialists, security incident response engineers, and industrial control and IoT security duty officers. In recent years, rooted in the development needs of the chemical industry, the university has adhered to its educational mission and development vision, continuously optimizing its disciplinary and program layout and structural system. The university will accurately grasp the pace of knowledge renewal, technological development trends, and industrial upgrading dynamics. Guided by serving the development of new quality productive forces, it will further deepen supply-side structural reform of academic programs, comprehensively enhance the quality of talent cultivation and core educational competitiveness.
