The project titled “Fundamentals of Thermochemical Reaction Engineering for the Calcination of Magnesite with Broad-Range Tunability of Product Activity,” led by Professor Xu Guangwen from the Energy and Chemical Industry Technology Research Institute of our university, has been successfully approved with direct funding of 2.58 million yuan. This approved project marks the fifth national-level key project undertaken by Professor Xu Guangwen as the lead and with our university as the leading institution. The team at our research institute, established and led by Professor Xu Guangwen, has long been dedicated to the field of engineering thermochemistry. It has previously undertaken four key projects under the National Key Research and Development Program, along with multiple sub-projects, and four regional joint fund projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, among other major national tasks. The team has produced systematic and high-level research outcomes across several key research directions, highlighting the profound academic expertise and collaborative capabilities of our university in this field. This National Natural Science Foundation project focuses on the core technological and equipment bottlenecks long faced by the magnesite industry in Liaoning Province. It involves collaborative efforts with Beijing University of Chemical Technology and the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The research team will delve into the evolution patterns and structure-activity relationships of magnesium oxide during the calcination process of magnesite. They aim to establish a new graded calcination process capable of broadly tuning product activity and develop a digital twin model of the reaction field, as well as an intelligent platform for real-time regulation of product activity. Aligned with the critical needs of the magnesite industry in Liaoning for upgrading light-burning furnaces, the research outcomes will provide theoretical support in engineering thermochemistry and systematic solutions for the industry’s high-quality development and technological transformation. This holds significant scientific importance and industrial application value. Meanwhile, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences recently announced the approval results of the 2025 Chinese Academic Translation Project under the National Social Science Fund. The English translation project of Ritual Law in China: Revisiting the Chinese Legal System (by Yu Ronggen, published by Kongxuetang Press), led by Professor Lin Lin from the School of Foreign Languages of our university, has been approved (general project category). The Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Fund is a significant national platform for promoting the international dissemination of outstanding Chinese academic achievements and enhancing the global influence of Chinese culture. Professor Lin Lin’s successful approval represents a new breakthrough for our university in the field of Chinese academic translation and marks important progress in the university’s social science research capabilities and international communication capacity building.
