On December 10, Zhang Di delivered an academic report titled “Configuration-Based Composite Design of Metallic Materials.” The report was chaired by Qin Gaowu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university, with all faculty members and graduate students from the School of Materials Science and Engineering in attendance. In his report, Professor Zhang Di focused on the design of high-performance metal-matrix composites, elaborating on key scientific and technological issues in core areas such as interface design and regulation, processing techniques, and research on structure-property relationships of metal-matrix composites. He shared academic insights and technological prototypes of configuration-based composite materials, along with the latest explorations and reflections on their applications in fields such as optical sensing materials. The presentation vividly illustrated the broad application prospects of aluminum-based, titanium-based, and other composite materials in aerospace engineering and other fields. During the interactive session, Professor Zhang Di engaged in in-depth and enthusiastic discussions with attending faculty and students on cutting-edge topics related to the regulation of reinforcements in metal-matrix composites. During the academic exchange, Qin Gaowu accompanied Zhang Di on a visit to the Strategic Materials Research Institute, providing a detailed introduction to its establishment and latest research achievements. The two sides held fruitful discussions on the future high-quality development of the Strategic Materials Research Institute. Zhang Di’s visit not only significantly broadened the research horizons of the faculty and students at the school but also further deepened academic exchanges and cooperation between the school and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the field of materials science, injecting new vitality into the school’s future research and innovation.
