The Special Lecture on Postgraduate Research Competence Improvement, a key event of the 4th Postgraduate Academic and Cultural Festival of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, was successfully held.

To proactively adapt to the development requirements of the digital and intelligent era, help postgraduate students accurately grasp the trends in scientific research, and comprehensively enhance their capacity for scientific research and innovation, a special lecture on improving postgraduate research competence was successfully held in Lecture Hall 304, Bifan Building on April 17. Co-organized by the Postgraduate Work Department of the Party Committee, the Graduate School and the University Library, the lecture formed an important part of the series activities of the University’s 4th Postgraduate Academic and Cultural Festival.

Centering on the theme of “Empowering Postgraduates’ Research Capacity through Digital Intelligence”, the lecture specially invited Professor Huang Ruhua, Deputy Director of Wuhan University Library, Director of the Information Literacy Research Center and Director of the Intellectual Property Information Service Center, as the keynote speaker. Relevant officials from the Postgraduate Work Department of the Party Committee, the Graduate School and the Library, together with on-campus postgraduates from secondary schools, representatives of young supervisors and several counselors attended the event.

During the lecture, starting from the current international context, Professor Huang Ruhua analyzed global academic developments and stressed the importance of cultivating information literacy and accessing reliable data sources. She advocated for enhancing postgraduates’ overall academic attainment to align with international research standards. She pointed out that postgraduate students should thoroughly study relevant national policies, foster a strong sense of patriotism and national identity, respond actively to national initiatives, and integrate academic research with national development strategies. She also emphasized the importance of confidentiality awareness and academic integrity, calling on all postgraduates to strictly abide by information security regulations and academic norms. At the end of the lecture, drawing on her rich experience in applying for national research projects, Professor Huang inspired teachers and students present to analyze practical difficulties in scientific research, identify research gaps in academic fields, and thereby select appropriate research topics and directions.

Closely responding to the urgent needs of postgraduates’ academic development in the digital and intelligent era, this lecture guided postgraduates to keep pace with international academic frontiers and national strategic demands. It effectively helped participants resolve research doubts, clarify topic selection and research methodologies, and further stimulated their academic enthusiasm and sense of mission. The event is of great significance for improving postgraduates’ research literacy and broadening their academic horizons.
