At present, the annual consumption of magnesium resources in China is about 8 million tons, of which more than 80% comes from Liaoning magnesite. Therefore, magnesite resources are not only the characteristic resources of Liaoning Province, but also the strategic resources of the country, which is of great significance to the protection of national "magnesium" supply and economic and national defense security. The development and utilization of magnesite resources in Liaoning Province has been highly valued by the relevant departments of Liaoning Province and the state. The government work report of Liaoning Province in 2020 clearly proposed to promote the structural adjustment, transformation and upgrading of Magnesite Industry.
In 2020, the Ministry of Science and Technology published the national key research and development plan "Solid waste Resource" oriented project "High value Utilization Demonstration project of bulk solid waste chemical materials in Magnesite Resource Base", and the 400 thousand tons/year magnesite transfer bed flash light burning industrialization project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission innovative industrial chain project, etc. Currently, Liaoning Province is carrying out the preliminary investigation work of the 14th five year plan for national economic and social development. How to make the magnesite industry bigger, stronger and better and achieve high-quality development will be an important part of the 14th five year plan of Liaoning Province.
