August 30 is the orientation day for SYUCT 2019 freshmen. More than 3,000 students from all over the nation entered the university to start a new journey, looking forward to the upcoming uni-life.
At 9 o'clock, Party Secretary Wang Qiang, Vice President Da Kening, Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection Meng Xianmei, Vice President Yuan Decheng, Vice President Jin Zhihao, Vice President Yang Xueyin and other school leaders accompanied by the people in charge from the University’s Party Office, the Publicity Department of Party Committee, the Student Affairs Department and other departments, came to the site, welcoming the new students and parents, visiting new staff.
The schools, each with its own characteristics, welcomed the new students at the University’s Student Activity Center: professional teachers answered questions for the new students at the site, showing their appreciation of professional education; peer leaders, volunteers spirited assisted parents, which vividly presented the warm, enthusiastic, and positive SYUCT spirit; the welcoming walls, the creative photo booths, the postgraduate enrollment lists highlighted each school’s unique custom; the birthday celebration on site for the new comer provided a homey feeling; the school’s code-scanning one-stop enrollment service fully illustrated the convenience brought by the Internet.
School leaders came to the freshmen's registration desks of to carefully understand the welcome work of relevant departments and schools, and enrollment status of the new comers. The leaders appreciated and fully affirmed the thoughtful and meticulous service of the on-site staff and student volunteers. They shook hands and took group photos together: "Everyone has worked hard!" "Thumbs up for everyone!"
The school leaders chatted with the freshmen and their parents friendly, about their birthplaces, the majors they are taking, whether the registration process is going smoothly, the encountered difficulties, and the thoughts about the up-coming uni-life. Freshmen and their parents were satisfied with the overall arrangement, the fine and careful preparation of the departments and schools, the hospitality of the teachers, and the campus view. Secretary Wang Qiang told the parents that the university has a beautiful natural environment, a strong cultural atmosphere and distinctive school management process. The university implemented the "113" talent training reform, and carried out “family training” program for the students. He asked parents to rest their hearts on the students' learning and living. He also kindly reminded the students: "The university is your home. No matter what question occurs, you can always contact the teacher to help you solve it."
In the gymnasium, the school leaders expressed their condolences to the staff of the Project Finance Department, the Security Department and other departments, and listened to reports on the payment of fees, baggage collection and other related work.
On the morning of August 29, the day before orientation, President Xu Guangwen, Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection Meng Xianmei, Vice president Yang Xueyin, the Party Office, the Student Office, the Logistics Management Department, the in-charge person of the Security Department visited the student domitories of the Materials, Chemical, Industrial and Art Design Departments, focusing on the safety inspection of wall, bathroom and dormitory beds maintained during the summer vacation; visited the welcome site to check the preparations for the orientation. President Xu Guangwen said that the university should create a warm environment and provide the best services for new students and their parents.
The university attaches great importance to this orientation work. Leaders at all levels have held preparatory meetings for the welcome work, and detailed arrangements have been made for the registration stations, volunteer training, consultation desk layout, network services, and logistics support, etc.
