The University held the 2019 Semester Opening and Military Training Completion Ceremony

On the morning of September 12, the opening ceremony of 2019 freshmen and their report performance of military training were held at the main stadium. School leaders Wang Qiang, Yuan Decheng, Meng Xianmei, Jin Zhihao, Yang Xueyin, as well as leaders from related party and administration departments, secondary schools, attended the ceremony and the briefing. Nearly 4,000 undergraduates, graduates and foreign students attended. The ceremony and briefing were presided over by Zhao Shi,the director of the party and administration office.

The report performance officially began at 9 a.m. Military training troops of each school performed in formation. With full spirit, orderly pace, loud and clear slogan, the freshmen had fully presented the vitality of youth and the University’s unique style. The leaders stood up, giving warm applause to the parade that walked across the rostrum.

After the report performance, the opening ceremony began.

Leaders at the meeting wore school badges for freshman representatives, while the rest of freshmen wore their school badges respectively.

Freshman representative, Wang Jiaao from the School of Energy and Power Engineering, and the grade-2016 student representative Zhu Xiao from the School of Materials Science and Engineering gave speeches correspondingly.

Professor Gong Bin, Director of the School of Energy and Power Engineering, spoke on behalf of the faculty. He first, on behalf of the faculty members, addressed the warmest welcome to the arrival of the freshmen. He said the university has prepared the first gift -- "113" talent training model reform for them. The university has also built one after another new families to make students feel special care and warmth. At the same time, he hoped that throughout the upcoming university life, students can adhere to perseverance in learning, keep in mind the school motto of "“study diligently, work hard in practice, develop reasons and explore truths " , to work hard, to study hard, to achieve fruitful achievements.

Party Secretary Wang Qiang delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of the university, he extended his warmest welcome to 3267 undergraduates and 611 graduate students from 30 provinces and autonomous regions and 51 international students from 16 countries. He expressed his high respect to their parents and teachers who raise them and educate them! Secretary Wang Qiang put forward five hopes for the new comers. First is to hope that students could develop a positive attitude, and strive to excel at their profession. Second is to hope that students can cultivate the love for the university and become emotionally intelligent. Third it to hope the students could set up the study style of diligence and innovation, looking for strong innovation skills. Fourth is to hope the students could form a unity and integrity characteristic, aiming for strong practical skills. Fifth is to the students could improve their sense of responsibility and strive to be virtuous. Tomorrow is the Mid-Autumn Festival, Secretary Wang Qiang sincerely asked students to make a phone calls to family, sending some videos, taking a few photos, sending warm words. At the same time, on behalf of the university, he sincerely wished all the freshmen a happy Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, hoping the students achieve prosperous learning progress, living happy life, earning academic success in SYUCT.

At the end of the ceremony, all the freshmen solemnly swore in front of the school flag: to be allegiance to the motherland, to love the people; to be ambitious, to solid down-to-earth; to study hard, to strive to forge ahead; to advocate science, to pursue truth; to have the courage to practice, to obey the law. Striving to build a moral, intellectual, physical and labor all-round development college student in the new era!

The ceremony ended successfully with the teachers and students singing the school anthem "Pride and Glory".
