Warm Welcome for New Students, Chasing Dreams at SYUCT | Our University Greets the 2025 Cohort of New Students

Crossing mountains and seas, they come to chase their dreams at Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (SYUCT). On September 4th, 4,886 new undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students of the 2025 cohort, hailing from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country, arrived at SYUCT as scheduled, embarking on their dream-chasing journey at the university. University leaders came to meet with new students and their parents, and expressed their gratitude to the staff and volunteers.

At 10 a.m., university leaders went to the gymnasium square, where they listened to reports from relevant person in charge on the registration procedures and the progress of new student enrollment. They also visited and consoled the reception points of various schools, volunteer service stations, and the “Green Channel” (for students with financial difficulties). At each stop, they paused to inquire carefully about the progress of the new student welcome work, communicated warmly with new students and their parents, and expressed their condolences to the teachers, counselors, and volunteers who stuck to the front line. The university leaders extended a warm welcome to the new students, welcoming them to become part of the SYUCT family, and encouraged them to study hard at the university and repay their parents, society, and the country with excellent grades. Meanwhile, they thanked the parents for their trust and support in SYUCT, and stated that the university would definitely provide good education and cultivation for the students.

The university carefully created a welcoming atmosphere on campus: it designed welcome boards for new students integrated with chemical engineering elements, and balloons embedded with SYUCT-themed elements, sowing the seeds of “serving the country through chemical engineering” in the new students’ hearts. Various schools actively prepared for the new student welcome work and designed unique registration points combining the characteristics of the schools and majors, conveying the most sincere welcome from all teachers and students to the new SYUCT members from all over the country. On the registration day, the gymnasium square set up a visual “Smart Campus New Student Welcome System” on the large screen, which updated real-time information such as the new student registration rate, the distribution map of students’ hometowns, and the registration status of each school. This realized the real-time sharing of registration data and helped ensure the new student welcome work was accurate and efficient.

The university carefully held a collective “birthday celebration” for new students whose birthdays coincided with September 4th. University leaders cut the cake together with the students, and presented birthday wishes and gifts, allowing the new students to feel the warmth from the university on their first day on campus.

Following the Chinese tradition of “dumplings before departure, noodles upon arrival”, the university also carefully prepared “new student welcome noodles” for the new students and printed a commemorative meal coupon for each new student. At noon, university leaders visited the new students and their parents who were tasting the “new student welcome noodles” in the canteen, conveying the university’s care and regards.

The Party Committee of the university attached great importance to the new student welcome work. It held a special meeting, formulated a detailed plan, and made careful arrangements for various tasks such as publicity and education, information communication, staff training, and atmosphere creation. All schools and departments worked together; the staff stuck to their posts with patience and care, providing warm, thoughtful, efficient, and convenient services for new students and their parents, and ensuring the smooth registration of all 2025 new students.

After registration, the university will launch the “First Lesson of the New Semester” for new students and carry out a series of “Dream Sailing” freshman enrollment education activities. These will include special reports on “Understanding SYUCT”, “Studying at SYUCT”, “Home at SYUCT”, “Cultural SYUCT”, “Growing at SYUCT”, “Joining Hands at SYUCT”, and “Love at SYUCT”, as well as special activities such as campus cultural tours, visits to the university history museum, study and sharing sessions by the “Serving the Country Through Chemical Engineering” College Student Theoretical Propaganda Group, campus culture lectures, theme class meetings on “My University and Me”, and ice-breaking psychological group training. These activities aim to help the 2025 new students better understand the university, adapt to college life, and open a new chapter of their wonderful college journey.
