The College of Computer Science and Technology, formerly known as the Department of Automation and Computer Application in Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, was officially formed in July 1994, and changed its name to College of Computer Science and Technology in June 2002. Under the college, there is a computer experimental center; five teaching and research sections: Software Engineering Department, Computer Science and Technology Department, Network Engineering Department, Information and Computing Science Department, and Fundamental Computer Science Department; four professional labs gathering teaching and scientific research: Software Engineering and Technology Research Laboratory, Intelligent Information Processing Laboratory, Network and Information Security Laboratory, and Intelligent Control Laboratory; one interdisciplinary research center collaborated with the College of Information Engineering: Industrial Internet of Things Research and Development Center; one IBM Software Institute collaborated with the IBM Software Training Base. In addition, there are several administration sections, including a specialist library room, the office of the Party Committee and Administration, the Teaching Management Office, and the office of Student Affaires.
The college has a team of teachers who are well grounded in the academic, full of spirit of innovation, and dedicated to their jobs . The overall number of faculty and staffs is 59, including 49 full-time faculty members, 5 professors, 12 associate professors, 11 supervisors of master students, 46 of them holding a Ph.D degree or Master degree, and one “Thousand Talent” scholar from the “Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project”.
The College of Computer Science and Technology is the cradle of training specialized personnel in the field of IT, and established a complete talent cultivating system that embraces undergraduates, graduates (master of science), master of engineering candidates, and foreign students. Now the college has two first class key disciplines for master of science program on “Computer Science and Technology” and “Software Engineering”, a professional master’s degree program on Computer Technology, a master of engineering program on Computer Technology, and 4 undergraduate majors on Computer Science and Technology, Information and Computing Science, Software Engineering, and Network Engineering. The college collaborated with Japanese Hokuriku University to set up the Chinese-Japanese collaboration program on Software Engineering, built the IBM software direction with IBM Software Training Base, carried out teaching and research collaboration with De Montfort University in Britain.
The college actively carry out extracurricular academic activities, creating a good environment for the cultivation of innovative talents. The college received a number of awards in college mathematical modeling contest, the challenge cup contest, ACM program design contest, national and Liaoning province computer design contest, etc..
The faculty and staffs together with students in the College of Computer Science and Technology are dedicating to creating a "health, integrity, harmony and enterprising" campus culture atmosphere, enhancing the internal cohesion and external competitiveness, cultivating high-quality talents, unswervingly building up the college as a prominent secondary institute that has its own advantages and characteristics of running a school, with top level of teaching and academic research.
