In 1985, the School of Economic and Management is instituted. Economics and management are the main subjects in the school. The undergraduate program of economics includes international economy and trade and finance. Business administration, marketing, accounting, information management and system as well as project management are involved in the undergraduate program of management. Also, it has master's degree programs of the first-level discipline, involving management science and engineering, and practical economics, as well as professional master degree, such as Master of Business Administration(MBA) and Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc).
There are 65 full-time teachers, with over fifty percent of them having obtained the doctorate. And among of them, 8 are professors,19 are associate professors and 34 are lecturers. Approximately, 1400 undergraduates, 140 post-graduate students and 20 foreign students from all parts of the world study here. With over thirty years of development, tremendous achievements and progress have been made in undergraduate education teaching, post-graduate education teaching, discipline construction, construction of teaching staff, and comprehensive quality cultivation of students.
With the purpose of distinct local features and severing regional economic construction, recently, the school undertakes nearly a hundred subjects including the national key and general social science foundation of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Ministry of Education foundation for humanity and social science, Liaoning foundation project for social science, local government such as education department, department of science and technology, finance department as well as enterprise funding subjects. The school has favorable teaching equipment, therefore, complex laboratory, business operation and decision simulation laboratory, accounting laboratory, the star of entrepreneurship laboratory, engineering management laboratory and information management laboratory cover the whole experimental training center established.
The school also regards the academic exchange and cooperation between international and domestic as the center of academic study. In recent years, numerous teachers leave for America, Russia, Australia and Tsinghua University and many other universities to communicate and do the investigations.
What the school strongly holds on are undergraduate education as the base, active development in post graduate education, and promotion in teaching and scientific research. According to disciplinary development and social requirement, the school revises and perfects the training plan in all majors, strengthening the professional building, carrying out curricula construction steadily to achieve the revolution of curriculum system.
All the teachers and students bear the school motto of "In pursuit of knowledge, seek truth from reason" in mind. Furthermore, the school keeps improvements in teaching, scientific research, and struggles to cultivate the students to be high-quality, practical, and eligible people who have healthy mentality, good cultural cultivation, manager's thinking, consciousness of innovation and adaption to the social development.
