School of Humanity and Social Science was founded in 2014 whose predecessor is Department of Social Sciences. After 60 years of development, School of Humanity and Social Science has become a comprehensive college with the function of both education and research in the area of humanity and social science
School of Humanity and Social Science has one professional master’s degree program on social work and two undergraduate programs of social work and public utilities management. Further more, there are overing 30 courses cover the subjects of literature, history, philosophy, economic, laws and arts publicly selective for students of whole university.
We have set up 3 teaching and research centers in Department of Social Work , Department of Public Administrationand，Department of Literature & Art., 3 academic research institutes of Social Security Research Center, Public Policy and Service Research Center and Chinese Literature & Cultural Research Center, one Social Service and Management Practice Training Center, one provincial college students’ practice teaching base “Shenyang endowment service center---Shenyang Universitey of Chemical Technology practical training education base”.
School of humanity and social science has 40 faculties including 35 full-time teachers. Among them ,there are 18 professors and associate professors. All of our professional teachers have master or higher degree including 7 teachers who have Ph.D degree.. Within our faculty of teaching, there is 1 top teacher of Liaoning province, 2 philosophy and social science theory of middle-aged and young talents in the new century talent project of Liaoning province, 1 provincial government decision-making consultation of middle-aged and young expert of Liaoning and 1 deputy director of sociology education teaching steering committee of Liaoning.
In recent years we have undertaken and finished a number of national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects . We have recieved the teaching achievement first and second prize in Liaoning province and other provincial scientific research and teaching rewards. The school have actively built social service platform, served society with our profession knowledge and skills and got remarkable effects. We have “National Social Work Professional Training Center”, which is one of the first batch national social work professional talents training centers, which undertakes the national and local professional talents education and training.
Our teacher have registered Love-H Social Work Service Center in Tiexi district of Shenyang, which is the first professional social work service agency and provides professional social work service and professional consulting etc. We have finished Community empty nesters social work service demonstration project which has get the central financial support and “Take care of disabled veterans” which is the first government to buy social work service project. We have been rated the national top 100 social work service agency by China association of social work and one of the second batch national social work service demonstration units.
The school attaches great importance to cultivating the students’ comprehensive quality, practical ability and innovation ability. The teachers have guided students to actively take part in science and technology innovation competition and have gained silver award of the second session of Chinese youth volunteer service project, silver and bronze award of the national college students’ entrepreneurship design contest, and bronze award of the national college students’ science and technology innovation competition etc.
