Shenyang Tniversity of Chemical Technology (SYUCT) is located in the National Economic and Technological Development Zone of Shenyang. Characterized by chemical industry, it has development into a multi-disciplinary university with its focus on engineering disciplines.SYUCT has courses covering such diverse fields as engineering, science, economics , management, hunmanities, law, education and medicine.
SYUCT was originally established in 1952. It was named Shenyang College of Chemical Technology and updergraduate institution in 1958, renamed Liaoning University of Science and Technology in 1960, then changed back to the name of Shenyang College of Chemical Technology. Under the Ministry of Chemical industry in 1962,co-constructed by the central and the local governments and primarily administrated by Liaoning provincial government in 1998. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education and renamed Shenyang University of Chemical Technology in 2010.
The campus covers an area of almost 1500 mu, with a building area of more than 400000 square meters. Blending academy, gardens and arts into one, it is one of the most beautiful campuses in Liaoning Province. At present , SYUCT has 25 institutes and departments, and has 16000 full-time students including undergrduates, postgraduates and overseas student. In addition, it has over 5000 from Adult Education and Continuing Education. The staff exceeds 1200, including nearly 800 teachers, more than 400 professors and asscciate professors. SYUCT has a number of outstanding graduate tutor, 13 people receives a special government subsidy of the State Councial, 1 "Famous Teacher in China", 6 outstanding experts of Liaoning, 7 Chair Professor of Liaoning Province,17 "Famous Teacher in Liaoning".
SYUCT is allowed to confer Master`s degree during the initial period of the eighth Five-year Plan. SYUC currently offers 13 first-level and 63 second-level master programs, and many specialties joint doctor programs, Leading similar institutions in the province. In 2016, Chemical engineering and technology of SYUCT has been listed as the first class in Liaoning province.
SYUCT adheres to an open policy.It has established the long-term and friendly relationships with more than 30 foreign university and research institutes. A multi-level and polymorphous type of talents cultiversities and secientific research cooperation system has been built. Include Liaoning Fine Chemical Co Innovation Center, SYUCT owns more than 20 Provincial key Subjects, key laboratories, new-technology transference and promotion.SYUCT has ever undertaken over 50 national scientific research projects,including the National Science and Technology project, the National “863” project , the National “973” project and the Natioanl Natural Ncience Foundation project. Meanwhile,about 17 projects won the national prizes, the ministerial and provincial first prizes of science and technology achievements, such as the second prize of National Science &Technology Progress, national invention award,the first prize in the national defense science and technology,and over thousands other ministerial and provincial prizes.
Graet importance has been attached to the development and construction of SYUCT by the party and state leaders. In 1980s, leading comrades such as State President Hu Jintao,Vice Premier Li Keqiang and secretary of the Central Commisson for Discipline Inspection He Guoqiang etc. Visted and inspected SYUCT ,which greatly encouraged the aggressive spirits and enthusiasm of both teachers and students.
