With a distinguished history of more than sixty years, the School of Energy and Power Engineering is now one of the distinctive schools at Shenyang University of Chemical Technology. At present, there are four majors, including Process Equipment and Control Engineering, Thermal Energy and Power Engineering, Oil-gas Storage and Transportation Engineering, and Theoretical and Applied Mechanical, in the school.
The school has acquired a strong faculty group. 41 employees are working in the school, including nine professors and seventeen associate professors. 40% of them have acquired PhD degree. Among all the faculties, one has been awarded the honor of “National Excellent Teachers”, one “National model teacher”, one “National Teaching Teacher”, two “Provincial Excellent Teachers ”, two “Provincial Teaching Teacher ”, one “Liaoning Provincial Leading Talent ”, one “Provincial Excellent Expert”, six “Excellent Talents in Provincial Colleges and Universities”, two “Professional Leader”, four “Hundred Talents Project level” in “Provincial Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project”. There are Provincial Innovation team in Colleges and Universities and Provincial High school teaching team in the school. Three teachers won the “Special allowance expert of the State Council” and five teachers acquired the support of the national natural science fund. The school has owned a strong academic atmosphere and a stable teaching and research team with reasonable knowledge-age structure has been formed in the school.
The school has the master pilot of first-level discipline, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics and the discipline of chemical process equipment is the key discipline of Liaoning Province. The school has four scientific research institute of provincial level, e.g., the research center of chemical technology static mix reaction engineering, key laboratory for high efficiency chemical industry mix technology. Amount achievements with international and domestic leading level have been gained, including the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of National Defense Science and Technology Award, four awards of First prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of Liaoning Province, First prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, First prize of Technological Invention Award of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, and many awards of Provincial and ministerial level. Some scientific research achievements have been successfully used to the field of chemical industry and some achievements have brought the significant economic and social benefit for industry and regional economic development.
Focusing on the teaching research, the school has undertaken some educational reform projects and won the fruitful teaching achievements. It includes three awards of First prize of Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, two awards of Second prize of Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, and one award of Excellent Textbook of China Petroleum and chemical industry.
The teaching construction work of the school has been carried by the principles of students as the main body and social need orientation. The teaching quality can be considered as the core, teaching work as the center. Recently, the school won a series of professional construction achievement: National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for chemical process equipment and control integrated experimental teaching center; Construction of National Characteristic Specialty, Provincial Demonstration of General Colleges and Universities, Provincial Undergraduate Comprehensive Reform in General Colleges and Universities for Process Equipment and Control Engineering; Provincial Specialty of General Colleges and Universities for Thermal Energy and Power Engineering; Provincial Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Center for process and equipment virtual simulation center.
At present, all the faculties have devoted themselves to the construction of the school in good spirits and the discipline construction, specialty construction, and the integration of scientific research and teaching have been accelerated. In the future, all the faculties will keep on working hard to improve the quality of talent training.
