College of Environment and Safety Engineering (CESE) was originated from department of environment engineering established in faculty of polymer materials and engineering in 1996. Environmental Engineering major begun to enroll undergraduates and simultaneously joined the Department of Fine Chemical Engineering in 1997. College of Environment and Biology Engineering was built during continuous development and growth in 2002. CESE was established by integration and reorganization in May 2012. Currently CESE had four undergraduate majors: Environmental Engineering, Environmental science, Water Quality Science & Technology, Safety Engineering. CESE also owned one master program of Environment Science and Engineering in the primary disciplines, two master programs of Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science in the secondary disciplines, and one engineering master program of Environmental Engineering. Environmental engineering got the second place in comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors held by Liaoning Province Education Bureau. Environmental Engineering became one of experimental majors of engineering undergraduate talent training model in universities of Liaoning province. CESE has now excellent full-time teachers. Professors and associate professors accounts for 65% of total full-time teachers and 80% full-time teachers have Ph. Degrees.
CESE has strong scientific research ability. There are many research directions such as pollution control and resource reuse, air pollution and control, environmental monitoring and assessment, safety monitoring and evaluation etc. Some research directions have higher levels. Many achievements in scientific research got rewards of provincial and ministerial level. There are more 20 national scientific research projects, including national natural fund, science and technology supporting plan, water projects etc.
CESE has complete and systematic teaching and scientific research laboratories. Major instruments include gas chromatograph (GC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ion chromatography (IC) and atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS) etc.
CESE encourages and develops students in an all-round way-morally, intellectually and physically, fosters and improves their quality and ability. CESE usually holds all kinds of activities such as academic report, entertainment, sport and social practice in order to enrich daily lives of students and develop their interests. Students increase practical skills and have creative spirits by taking part in these activities. CESE fully utilizes platforms of teaching and scientific research to develop innovation and practice of undergraduates. Our college’s competition results of undergraduate scientific and technological innovation and business plan always come out in front in Shenyang University of Chemical Technology.
The college adheres to the most advanced developing idea, depending on advantages of chemical industry in our campus, contributes everyone’s strength to good development. Nowadays, teachers and students are enthusiastically dedicating themselves to the developing of CESE, actively creating high-peak discipline platform, trying to make our college more influential teaching-research base in home and abroad.
