Founded in 1952, the Department of Science in Shenyang University of Chemical Technology was established on the basis of the original Fundamental Science Department. In 2004, according to the need of discipline construction, it converted to the Department of Science. Our department undertakes the teaching of foundation courses and the experiment courses, in mathematics, physics, etc.. We also take in charge of the teaching of specialized courses in our own department. The Department of Science currently has 63 faculty and staff members, including 59 full-time faculty members. 21 of them have titles as professors or associate professors, and over 90 percents of them have Ph.D. Degrees or Master Degrees.
There are 5 Teaching and Research Sections, 2 Specialized Laboratories, and 1 Experimental Center in the Department of Science. They are: Higher Mathematics teaching and research section, Engineering Mathematics teaching and research section, Applied Mathematics teaching and research section, General Physics teaching and research section, Applied Physics teaching and research section, and the Physical Experiment Center. The specialized laboratories in our department consist of: the Laboratory of Scientific and Engineering Computing, and the Laboratory of Magnetic Materials Preparation and Testing. The Physical Experimental Center consists of the laboratories of the force, heat, light, electricity, magnetism, modern physics, demonstration, etc..
The Department of Science has a high-level faculty team, including ‘Hundred Level’ talents in the ‘Hundred, Thousand, and the Thousand Talents Project’ of Liaoning Province, Key Teachers of Liaoning Province, Shenyang young teachers' Basic Skills Award Winners, Outstanding Communist Party Members in Shenyang, Discipline Leaders of the university, Outstanding Advisors of College Student Extracurricular Science and Technology activities, and Outstanding Advisors of the First Internet+ Competition, etc..
In recent years, the teachers of Department of Science undertook Liaoning teaching reform project, education teaching planning project of liaoning11th Five-Year Plan Period and More than 30 reform projects of various types. The teachers abtained teaching achievement prizes at the "Education of Liaoning province", "Liaoning province excellent textbooks"," Institutions of higher learning the provincial excellent teaching team". Linear algebra is approved for quality resources sharing courses construction in liaoning province.
Breakthrough progress has been made by Department of Science in the discipline construction, scientific research and laboratory construction. At present there are two research institutes, i.e., the institutes of applied mathematics and applied physics. There is a Subject Company, namely Shenyang Spring Scenery Testing Technology. Have the world's higher level scientific research publications (Physics Letters A Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials), there are more than 200 papers published in three major retrieval papers, national and provincial publication etc. Take longitudinal research projects with the national natural science fund project, national natural science youth fund projects, 973 project prophase research initiative, China postdoctoral science foundation on finance, natural science fund project in Liaoning province, educational scientific research project of Liaoning province, and other kinds of projects. Transverse subject takings millions, in recent years a central local construction project successfully funded, and funding of about 200 million received. Added modern physics and design experimental equipments, further improve level of laboratory construction.
