On the afternoon of May 29th, Wang Fa, the head of Huawei's 5G Innovation Department, was invited to his alma mater to introduce Huawei to the youngsters of the School of Information Engineering, explain the 5G technology, and share ideas and work experience.
The report of Minister Wang Fa is divided into three parts: the overview of Huawei Company; the introduction of 5G technology and application in the industry; personal inspiration through studying and working. Regarding the company’s profile, Wang introduced the three main business focuses of Huawei, the world's leading provider of ICT infrastructure and intelligent terminals: Smart terminals, including smart phones, wearable terminals, home smart terminals, vehicle terminals, etc.; Technology, including wireless networks, fixed networks, core networks, operation and maintenance services, etc.; Computing and cloud services, including storage and servers, data centers, IOT, video surveillance, enterprise communications, AI platforms, cloud services, etc. Regarding 5G technology and applications, Wang put forward that the world will soon enter the digital age, and 5G+AI technology will completely subvert the way people perceive the world. In the future, 5G will drive the development of trillions of industries, which will boost GDP growth by 5.3% in 15 years. While the three "tricks" of 5G technology: Giga-level rate, millisecond-level delay, and million-level connections will bring five revolutionarily changes: connected platform, all online, full cloud, smart terminal and seamless experience. In particular, when it came to the 5G technology of China and Huawei, Minister Wang Fa emphasized that Huawei has realized the complete localization of 5G baseband chips, AP chips, base station core chips and ARM chips. Hence, China has now become the world leader in the 5G field. Regarding the share of inspirations, Minister Wang Fa put forward 9 and 5 suggestions for the youngsters according to their own personal experiences. The 10 suggestions for studying are: develop good study habits and methods; do one or two favorite community work; avoid indulging in entertainment such as games and playing cards; expand reading radius and cultivate deep thinking skills; acknowledge oneself and make wise choices, since choice is sometimes more important than hard work; learn more about various industries, do academic planning and career planning in advance; cultivate self-confidence, challenge oneself, keep excellence as a continuous goal; cultivate independent thinking ability and do not follow the herd; cultivate good written expression ability; be in a serious relationship. The five suggestions for work are: take the first job as an important starting point for a career, and it must be prepared well enough; companies, cities, industries, and positions are important reference targets for choosing a job; you must learn to suffer, especially when you are young; keep curiosity, maintain hunger for knowledge, and maintain the intention to live and learn; you must keep your head down but your eyes up.
