On the morning of January 8, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council held the National Science and Technology Award Conference in Beijing. Liu Kuansheng, the outstanding alumnus of our university (admitted into the university in 1984, majoring in Polymer), chairman of the board of Beijing SBL Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and was honored at the conference.
This vitally important innovation project, the Technology of a Set of Key Auxiliaries for Large Ethylene and Coal Olefin Plants and Its Application, was selected among the Municipal Science and Technology Awards winning projects and recommended by the Beijing Science and Technology Commission to the National Science and Technology Award Office. In the competition with prestigious universities, major research institutes and large central enterprises, the private enterprise led by Liu Kuansheng stood out, capturing the national-level science and technology award.
For more than a decade, in order to catch up with the world first-class technology and better meet the requirements for the ethylene industry development in China, Liu Kuansheng and his team, have researched and developed 10 original achievements (products), such as the ethylene plant cracking furnace coking inhibitor, the compressor polymerization inhibitor, and the butter inhibitor, breaking through the bottleneck of domestic production of three petrochemicals, making the technology of key auxiliaries for ethylene plants in China take the first step towards autonomy, breaking the passive situation of long-term dependence of China’s large petrochemical enterprises on imports.
