People who have dreams are happy. The dream of the Chinese is to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The dream of the SYUCT people is to realize the rapid development of the university! The SYUCT people have been struggling for the dream for 66 years. In 2018, we are one step closer to this dream; in 2019, we will be one more step closer to this dream!
The bell ring of the New Year and the footstep of the dream are getting closer and closer to us. At this wonderful moment, we, on behalf of the university party committee and administration, extend the New Year’s greetings and the festival’s blessings to the teachers, the students and the retired leaders and comrades who have been dedicating themselves to the university construction and development for the past year, to the alumni at home and abroad who have been showing love and making a return for the alma mater, to people from all walks of life who have long been caring for and strongly supporting the university development.
The year of 2018 is the first year to implement the spirit of the 19thNational Congress of China’s Communist Party. It is a crucial year to carry on the 13thFive-Year Plan. This year, guided by Xi Jinping’s Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, we thoroughly implement the spirit of the 19thCPC National Congress. Making concerted and pioneering efforts, we comprehensively promote the “423” reform and development strategy and the “113” talent cultivation system, and also achieve one historic breakthrough after another, continuing to write the legend of “SYUCT Phenomenon”!
The party construction has made new breakthroughs. At the “Two Excellent And One Advanced” commendation conference in Liaoning province, the party committee of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology has been awarded the title of “The Advanced Party Organization of Liaoning Province”, receiving grand recognition, and thus realizing the historic breakthrough in party construction. At the same time, the university has also been rated by the Provincial Party Committee’s Education Work Committee as “The Demonstration University in Party Construction in the New Era”.
“Double First-Class” construction has realized a new leap. In the annual (2017) performance appraisal of the first batch of 43 first-class disciplines in 20 provincial colleges and universities, the discipline of the Chemical Engineering and Technology has been highly evaluated as one of the 12 excellent disciplines. In 2018, our university has received funding of more than 10 million yuan.
The talent team construction has composed a new chapter. “The Chemical Engineering and Technology Teacher Team” has been successfully selected by the Ministry of Education into the first batch of “Analogues of Huang Danian Teacher Team in Colleges and Universities Nationwide”. Four professors have been approved among the 7thbatch of outstanding experts of Liaoning Province, the number of candidates ranking first in provincial universities.
Talent cultivation has opened up a new course of development. The project “The Reform and Practice of ‘113’ Applicative Talents Cultivation System” with Professor Yuan Decheng as the presider and a teaching achievement with Professor Jin Zhihao as a member have won the second prize of National-level Teaching Achievements of Higher Education in 2018. Five majors have been selected into the first batch of first-class demonstration majors of undergraduate education among the provincial colleges and universities, the number ranking in the forefront. In 2018, four majors have completed the within-the-university inspection of China’s Engineering Professional Certification, and five majors have been approved; at present, nine majors have passed the certification and completed the within-the-university inspection, the number ranking the top among the universities of the same category in the country. The experimental teaching project “3D Simulation Training of Distillation Separation DCS Production Process” has been approved as a national-level virtual simulation experiment teaching project.
Scientific and technological research and development and industrialization have taken a new step. Two national key R&D plan programs and one project have been obtained. Over 150 high-quality papers have been published. Three provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards have been gained. Nearly 100 contracts for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements have been signed.
The order-typed scientific and technological innovation and achievements transformation mechanism “targeted research and development, targeted transformation, and targeted service” of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology has been listed by the nation as a typical case and successful experience of scientific and technological innovation to be promoted nationwide. Only two universities in the province have acquired this honor.
Services to the local have yielded significant results. The demonstration project of 400,000 tons of magnesite has begun in Haicheng; the demonstration project “The New Technology of Directional Distilling and Refining One Million Ton of Oil Shale”, in which our university has cooperated with the city of Beipiao, has been approved as a national project, etc.
The positive results of the five “School-Enterprise Alliance” platforms proposed by our university have been remarkable. “The Fine Chemical Industry Technology Alliance of Liaoning Province” has become the “Demonstration Benchmark” Alliance among at least 20 alliances belonging to the Provincial Department of Industry and Informatization. “The Petrochemical School-Enterprise Alliance of Liaoning Province” has ranked among the top in the annual performance evaluation of school-enterprise alliances of the Provincial Department of Education, receiving 27 million yuan in funding.
The historic achievements tell us that the university is much closer to the soaring dream than ever! The powerful energy accumulated by the SYUCT people in the 66-year historical process has fully erupted and has become an unstoppable force for realizing the “soaring dream”.
Having surged forward in sweeping waves in the last 66 years, our university aspires to soaring like the huge bird “peng” up to a 90000-li height. In 2019, our university is to promote the comprehensive reform. Taking Xi Jinping’s Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era as the guide, taking advantage of China’s reform and opening up, and then voyage, our university, in an inspired spirit of reform, will work hard to further advance the “423” reform and development strategy and the “113” talent cultivation system, and to vigorously implement the “3+2” reform project, making great strides toward the soaring dream!
