On the afternoon of December 26, the Joint Performance “Marching Forward Painstakingly, Flying Upward Swiftly in 2019” to Welcome the Spring and Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening up was staged in the College Student Activity Center. The university leaders watched the performance with the faculty and staff.
Before the performance, the first “Tengfei Award” awarding ceremony of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology was held. The units and individuals who had made outstanding achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, international exchanges and cooperation in the past year were commended. Retired old leader and teacher representatives presented awards to the winners. At the same time, the “Tengfei Award”—Special Contribution Award was awarded to 18 representatives of poverty alleviation cadres, who went deep into rural areas to carry out targeted poverty alleviation. Bai Wei, the Party Secretary of the university, and Xu Guangwen, the President of the university, awarded medals to poverty alleviation cadres.
The joint performance kicked off with New Year’s blessings of the university leaders. Party Secretary Bai Wei and President Xu Guangwen, on behalf of the university party committee and administration, sent sincere holiday greetings and happy New Year wishes to all the teachers, students, retired leaders and comrades, alumni at home and abroad, and people from all walks of life who had long been caring for and supporting the university development.
With “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The City of the Sky”, played by the university orchestra, as a prelude, the joint performance presented itself around two parts “The Sun Rising” and “The Moon Eternity”. The performance acclaimed the great achievements of China’s reform and opening up during 40 years, as well as showing SYUCT people’s patriotism and professional dedication, their spirit of taking the university as home, and their determination to move forward with heart.
The joint performance went along in lively atmosphere. The programs selected and recommended by the trade unions of various schools and departments, including the dance, the song and dance, the chorus, the poetry recitation, were all brilliant. The song “The Spring Breeze of the Reform Singing a New Song” sang the vitality brought about by the reform and opening up like the spring returning to the earth. The dance “Dance of the World” performed by the College of International Education expressed the good wishes of international students for China and the university. The alumni representatives of Dalian Alumni Association gave us the poetry recitation “The Love of the Alma Mater”, composed by Mr. He Mingzhou, the former secretary of the Youth League Committee of our university. It expressed the alumni’s deep affection for the alma mater. “Interview—Walking into the Village” showed the work of the poverty alleviation cadres in difficult circumstances and the achievements they had made. The chorus “My Future Is Not a Dream” and “In the Field of Hope” of the teachers’ choir of our university pushed the performance to a climax. They sang the tribute to China’s reform and opening up and the hope of the university’s rapid development.
After the performance, the university leaders conveyed greetings to the cast members and took a group photo on the stage.
