On 30th November, the Provincial Department of Education released the list of the first batch of first-class undergraduate education demonstration majors of the ordinary colleges and universities in Liaoning Province. 5 majors of our university were on the list, including Chemical Engineering and Technology (the person in charge of the major: Xu Guangwen), Process Equipment and Control Engineering (the person in charge: Jin Zhihao), Polymer Materials and Engineering (the person in charge: Fang Qinghong), Environmental Engineering (the person in charge: Zhang Xuejun), Metal Materials Engineering (the person in charge: Fu Guangyan).
In order to carry out the spirit of the National Education Work Conference and the National Undergraduate Education Work Conference in the New Era, accelerate the construction of high-level undergraduate education, promote the connotative development of higher education, and improve in an all-round way the capacity for talent cultivation, the Provincial Department of Education organized the selection of the first batch of first-class undergraduate education demonstration majors on November 19. The first batch of first-class majors come from majors whose evaluation scores rank among the top 20% in the comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors in the province, as well as pilot majors in the provincial-level comprehensive reform (having not participated in the comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors in the province) and pilot majors in the reform of engineering talent training mode.
In the light of the document spirit of the Provincial Department of Education, our university mobilized to apply according to selection requirements. Ten majors that meet the selection requirements, such as Chemical Engineering and Technology, Process Equipment and Control Engineering, overcoming the difficulties of tight time and heavy tasks, worked overtime until the compilation of application materials was completed in an intensive and orderly manner. After formulating “the evaluation index system of SYUCT for first-class undergraduate education demonstration majors”, and setting up an expert group, the university conducted a mock review of the application majors and proposed amendments to the materials.
