The National 973 Program “Scientific Foundation for Oil and Gas Refinement from Oil-Shale with High

On 15thOctober, the National Key Research and Development Program (973 Program) “Scientific Foundation for Oil and Gas Refinement from Oil-Shale with High Efficiency and Energy Conservation in the Process”, with Professor Xu Guangwen of our university as the chief scientist, was accepted as up to standard after a check in Beijing. The program was appraised “the excellent”, with an average score of its six projects reaching over 90 points.

The program acceptance meeting was held in Beijing Tibet Hotel. Relevant leaders of the Basic Research Management Center of the Basic Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province, and the units undertaking the program attended the meeting. The acceptance expert team consists of experts from the program expert team, such as Academician Li Dadong, Academician Jin Yong, Academician Li Hongzhong, Academician Yue Guangxi, and experts tracking the program, including Professor Chen Yuhua, Researcher Bi Jicheng, and other experts from related fields. The meeting was chaired by Professor Xu Guangwen, the chief scientist of the program.

Professor Xu Guangwen, the program chief, first introduced the overall objectives, scientific issues, and important achievements in five years’ research of the program. The person in charge of each project reported the completion of the task during the past five years, the innovative research and important achievements, the science and technology impetus and impact in related fields, and the cultivation of research teams and their innovative capabilities, etc. Experts listened carefully to the report. After in-depth discussion and deliberation, they conducted comprehensive evaluations on the task completion, scientific innovation, impact of achievements, and team building. On average, the six projects all gained appraisal of more than 90 points.
